  1. Sorry to hear that. Planning to drive to Florida next January and looking for a place to stay overnight near the border, Port Huron or Detroit is fine. No RV park opened in this area so we were thinking of Walmart but your report scares us. We are new Airstreamers. Any idea?

  2. You can overnite at Cabela’s on US23 in Dundee northwest of Monroe, less than 20 miles from the border and Toledo. They have a dump station and water, though it may be shut off for the winter.

  3. I live in Grand Blanc, MI. I did a lot of reserch on the NOP in Grand Blanc. It seems the reason is that when it was built, the planning commision required the builder to not allow ONP. There is no law against parking at Walmart. The Township official I contacted said that as long as the owner of the property does not have any signs say “No overnight parking” the police cannot issue a citation. So, you could probably get by parking here but do so at your risk. Terry

  4. I understand why many Walmart stores are prohibiting overnight parking as some people have taken advantage o it and ruined it for many of us. A few years ago we went to our local Walmart and saw a camper set up complete with lawn chairs and table. We have stopped at Walmarts ,occasionly, on our trips to and from Florida. One time we pulled in to one pretty late only to see the ‘overnight camping prohibited’ sign. We did go in and ask if we could stay just to get some sleep and told the manager we would be on our way first thing in the morning. He thanked us for asking and said the sign was there to stop someone from abusing the overnight privilege as mentioned above. This may have been the only manager that felt this way but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to approach it the way we did and make sure you do what you said. Don’t sit around til late morning…..get up and get on the road.
